Just a quick up-date tonight, by me, your friendly, neighborhood ryan.c., cj is a healthy scratch tonight. He'll return tomorrow night.
Anyway, how about some scores. First off, Ottawa's unbeaten streak is BROKEN! And, as a Leaf fan, i say, 'it's about damn time.' The Sens got knocked off 3-2 by the surprisingly good Carolina Hurricanes, who's record improves to 4-2-1, and the Sens record sits at 6-1-0. Ottawa goals were scored by Patrick Eaves, and Jason Spezza, who got his fourth of the year. Carolina scorers were Eric Staal, with his sixth, Matt Cullen, and Frankie Kaberle.
Elsewhere, Detroit knocked off Columbus, 6-2. Pavel Datysuk led the way with 2 goals and an assist for Detroit, and Brendan Shanahan also got a pair. Zetterberg and Schneider got the other two Detroit goals. Trevor Letowski and Bryan Berard both scored for Columbus.
Finally, Toronto won in a shoot-out, finally! Albeit, not against the Senators, but another division rival, in the Bruins. B's goals were scored by Glen Murray, Ian Moran, Pat Leahy, and former Leafs draft pick, Brad Boyes. Leafs goals came courtesy of Tie Domi, Alex Khavanov, Alex Ponikarovsky, and Bryan McCabe. McCabe also got an assist, which pulls him into a tie with Jaromir Jagr, for the league lead in points, with 15.
League notes to pass on, Thrashers' Eric Boulton was suspended 6 games, for a check on Lightning player, Paul Ranger. In Edmonton, the Oilers have sent goaltender Ty Conklin to the minors. The tandem of him and Maarkanen just isn't cutting it for them this year.
And finally, the Hockey Leaks Player of the Night. The award goes to... (drum roll...) Leafs' Goaltender Ed Belfour, for his performance tonight, against the Bruins. Belfour allowed 4 goals on (get this...) 53 shots, not to mention his play in the late stages of the third period, over time, and shootout was Prime Belfour. Honerable Mention goes to Wings Pavel Datysuk for his 3 point performance against the Jackets.
Anywho, that's all for now.
Seacrest out.
