Pens Tearing It Up!

Don't look now, but hear come the Penguins! Crosby, Lemieux and Palffy all scored, and rookie Ryan Whitney added his seventh assist of the season as the Pittsburgh Penguins beat the New York Rangers 3-2. Hollweg had a goal and an assist for the Rangers, while Marcel Hossa had the other Ranger goal. Sebastian Caron picks up the win for the Pens, as he looks to prove that he can be Pittsburgh's top goalie.

The Dallas Stars blanked the Oilers tonight, winning 4-0. Robidas, Modano and Jokinen all had a goal and an assist, while Lessard also had a goal for Dallas. Turco gets the shutout, while Edmonton continues to have questions in net. Markkanen was pulled in the third period and replaced with Morrison.

After two periods of play, the Canucks lead the Flames 2-1. Bertuzzi and Naslund each have goals for Vancouver, while Kobasew has a goal for the Flames. Auld and Kirpusoff are the goalies in this game. Edit : 2-2 now after a Hamrlik goal. 13:39 left in the third period. Edit#2: Jerome Iginla makes it 3-2 Calgary. 13:15 remaining in the third period.

Some injury news for you: Rick Nash will miss another 4-6 weeks due to a knee injury. He has hardly played this season, as he missed the first month with an ankle injury. Igor Ulanov was suppose to return soon for the Oilers, but he took a shot off his injured ankle in yesterday's practice, and will probably be out until at least the weekend.

For those who missed it, tonight Cam Neely, Valeri Kharlamov, and Murray Costello were inducted into the hockey hall of fame. For those wondering on who could be next to enter the hall of fame, the rumours are that in 06 we will Bure, Richter, Gilmour and Roy, however, I wouldn't be surprised if Housley made it before one of them. In 07, we will see four of Messier, Francis, Stevens, Larionov and MacInnis. Who gets left out will be big news, as how do you decide which one has to wait a year for the hall of fame. By the way, my predictions for the 2009 Hall of Fame inductions are in : Yzerman, Hull, Belfour and Hasek. Obviously three of them have yet to retire, but I'm going to assume all three do after this season, though it's doubtful that both goalies do, as both feel like they could keep playing for years. We'll see how they feel after 82 games and a few playoff rounds.
