Kovalchuk Signs With Atlanta

5 Year deal worth 32.5 million bucks. How bout those Thrashers? They beat Washington 7-2 tonight, with Peter Bondra leading the way. Bondra had a goal and two assists against his former team. As for the Ovechkin watched, he tallied one assist.

The Flyers got their first win of the season tonight against the Devils. Simon Gagne has two goals, while Forsberg and Richards each added two assists. Mogilny and Langdenbruner scored for the Devils. Carolina beat Pittsburgh in a shootout, as Pittsburgh has yet to find their offense. Cory Stillman won the shootout for Carolina, as well as scoring their second goal of the game. Sidney Crosby remains a point-a-game player, as he added an assist.

Calgary got back on track tonight, winning 3-1 over Columbus. Daymond Langkow continued to play strong for his new team, scoring a goal and adding an assist. Darren McCarty scored his first goal as a Flame in this game. Trevor Letowski scored the lone goal for Columbus.

Roberto Luongo continues to show Florida why they should pay him every penny he wants, as he recorded his second straight shutout tonight. This one game against the Lightning, who were shutout despite having all three of their big scorers in the lineup. Jokinen and Kolnik scored for the Panthers. The Bruin's lost their second straight, as Buffalo won their second straight. 4-1 was the final in that game. Vanek had an assist in the win.

Finally, the Blackhawks' doubled up San Jose 6-3. Rookie Brent Seabrook had four assists in this game, bringing him to 5 assists in just two games. He's the early leader in the Calder Trophy race, who would've thought? Michelek had a goal and an assist for the Sharks. Looking around the league, it appears the new rules are definitely producing more goals.
