Morning Report!

Just a quick look at last night's late games :

Does anyone remember last night's blog, when I said watch the Edmonton/Phoenix game, because it is going to get exciting? Wow was it ever, with Phoenix loosing it's two goal lead, only to come back and win 4-3 in overtime. Saprykin had two goals for the Coyotes, while Doan added one and Morris scored the OT winner. Ulanov had a goal and an assist, while Reasoner and Peca had the other Edmonton goal. Phoenix has now won two in a row, while the Oilers fall to 3-3-1.

Chicago continued to struggle, loosing to Vancouver 6-2. Khabibulin allowed all six goals on 25 shots. Morrison and Salo each had a goal and an assist for Vancouver(edit : my mistake, Morrison had a goal and two assists), while Bertuzzi had three assists, finally showing some offensive talent. Ohlund had two goals for the Canucks, while D. Sedin and Naslund round out the scoring for Vancouver. Rookie Vorobiev had a goal and an assist for the Blackhawks. Vancouver improves to 5-1-1, while Chicago drops to 2-5.

As first reported in the forums last night, Phoenix traded forward Jeff Taffe to the Rangers for Jamie Lundmark. It will be interesting to see if Taffe can improve his play with the Rangers, as Marcel Hossa has really excelled since his trade. Chris Kuntz was claimed off waivers by the Ducks. Kuntz attended the Ducks' training camp, before he was claimed off waivers by Atlanta. The Ducks have now stole him back.

As Gaborik returns tonight, a few cuts will have to be made my Minnesota. Don't be surprised to see Nazarov or Tjarnqvist sent down by the Wild, as both have been healthy scratches as of late. According to The Score, Andy Hilbert of the Bruins still wants a trade. There is very little interest in Hilbert, so don't expect anything to happen soon.

Code is reporting that Tom Poti will likely be the next player traded from New York. If New York continues to make trades that improve them, maybe they could become a playoff team? They sure look like one so far.

Remember to check Hockeyleaks.com later tonight, as hopefully my new power rankings and articles will be up. If you have any questions, or would like to become one of our columnists, please email me at cjohnson202@hockeyleaks.com. Have a good day everyone!
